Most of our funding comes from donations from diesel group members, or from the Caledonian Railway - itself a registered charity. Donations from other persons or bodies are listed in this part of our site in recognition of their kind gesture. It really does help us to return our locomotives to an operational condition and to keep them working for everyone to enjoy. The CRDG would like to thank the following people or organisations for their support. THANKS!
Fettercairn Distillery

Fettercairn Distillery and visitor centre is situated around 11 miles to the north of Brechin and is owned by Whyte and Mackay of Glasgow. The distillery has agreed to sponsor planned repairs to the power unit of 37097. In recognition, 37097 was named "Old Fettercairn" on the 5th May 2007 during our Diesel Gala. "Old Fettercairn" was the famous brand name of a whisky previously produced at the distillery. "Fettercairn 1824" is the distillery's current product. At the naming ceremony, Distillery manager David Doig named the locomotive and gave everyone a dram to toast the locomotive. Thanks to the distillery for their support!

Nelson Charity Committee

The CRDG would like to express our thanks to the Nelson Charity Committee of Shell's Nelson oil and gas production platform, who have kindly donated a generous sum for planned work on 37097's power unit.

Nelson is situated approx 180m east of St Fergus in the Central Area of the North Sea. 11 Charities and good causes have benefited from a safety incentive scheme that was operated during the platform shutdown in July and August. The safety performance during this shutdown was excellent and as a result they were able to make this donation to our cause, amongst others.

We would like to thank all of the crew of the Nelson platform for the support!

Expro North Sea Ltd.

The CRDG would like to thank Expro North Sea Ltd., of The Expro Group, for a large quantity of paint that was kindly donated to us towards the end of 2006 for 37097.

The Expro Group is a leading European oilfield service company, providing well testing and commissioning, wireline intervention services, subsea connectors and measurements to the global oil and gas industry.

The donation has allowed us to paint the class 37's bogies in black gloss, which finishes the repaint off nicely!

How to make a donation...

If you are an individual and you would like to make a donation, you can send us a cheque made payable to "Caledonian Railway Diesel Group". Send to CRDG, Caledonian Railway, The Station, Park Road, Brechin, DD9 7AF.
