DIESEL GALA 2007 The three days went very well with passenger numbers and revenue up on last year. D5314, 27024 and 37097 worked faultlessly over the three days and gave all of the visitors and photographers a good show. Cab rides proved popular once again - at one point they were booked 2 trains in advance. 37097 was named "Old Fettercairn" in conjunction with Fettercairn Distillery on the Saturday of the gala. 37097 pulled into the station with a Lion Rampant covering the nameplate and the sound of the engine was complimented by the sound of the bagpipes. These were excellently played by Jamie, one of our volunteers. Distillery manager David Doig unveiled the nameplate at 2pm and invited visitors to have a dram of whisky to toast the locomotive. Two bottles of "Fettercairn 1824" were donated by the distillery to be raffled on the train. This raised a reasonable sum of money for the group. More details about the naming can be found on the "Support" page. Photos of the weekend can be found at the CRDG fotopic site http://crdg.fotopic.net. There was a reasonable amount of video footage taken during the weekend and this will be uploaded to this site as time allows. Thank you to all the visitors for supporting us and making it another successful event! |
